Technical Description
1. The Hong Kong Observatory (HKO) monitors earthquake activities by operating a local seismic network of long and short period seismograph stations and reports earthquake P-times via the Gobal Telecommunication System (GTS) and Aeronautical Fixed Telecommunication Network (AFTN) to various centres such as the Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre (PTWC) and the National Earthquake Information Centre (NEIC) in near real-time; 2. HKO monitors Tsunami Bulletins issued by PTWC through GTS.

HKO will consider issuing a Tsunami Warning based on information provided in the Tsunami Bulletins from PTWC.
